The ice structures after the storm are like some work of art where the the waves have washed ashore. It was especially beautiful in the evening twilight.

Snowstorm played havoc
On this beautiful February morning the forecast predicted some very heavy winds, Grímsnes, South Iceland.
And the next day the weather forecast came true. Snowstorms played havoc throughout the country with winds way above 25m/sec. in some places.

Winter Snow
You might say that asking for a White Christmas has gone a bit out of hand here in Iceland during the last month. There is such a lot of snow everywhere that when it melts there will be tons of water everywhere. Now they are predicting temperatures above zero, and even above 5° C, so the roads will probably be more suitable for going skating than driving. – Drive carefully everyone :*

Winter solstice
December 21 is the northern winter solstice. Here in Selfoss sunrise was at 11:14 and sunset at 15:29 and the sun is just 2.7° over the horizon at midday.
Winter wonderland
Lots of snow and the Northern Lights light up the night sky. This looks a lot like Christmas. Another photo from last night.
Quirky birds
Outside it’s snowing and the wind is blowing. A blizzard has started and a warning has been issued. Roads are expected to close and everyone should just stay inside.
So this is the perfect time to sit down with a warm cup of tea and a drawing pad. Here is an example from my drawing pad 😉
